God is a slacker

God is looking, said one of the cat caretakers, when I asked Jason why he's *still* at the shelter. God is working on finding him someone just right, she said.

God's isn't doing such a great job for Tana, either. Little kittens like her are usually snapped up instantly, but like Jason, she's been waiting for more than a month.

And He's slacking big time with Frank. After going to one adoption event after another, and reaching his paws out to every visitor who's come through the shelter, Frank met someone who adored him! His was the second name on her short list.

On the bright side, she did adopt George, who's also been around since October.

And I heard that a really nice family just came to pick up Polo, yet another long-timer.

See, the caretaker said, God is trying. But if you asked Tana, she might not think He's living up to His full potential.

Happy anniversary, Max!

I'd forgotten how tiny he was when I brought him home last November.

He's gotten so much bigger during our year together.

He was a little scared of the hissing Spots at first.

But it's all worked out, hasn't it? Happy anniversary, sweetie!

Where have I seen those paws before?

When I saw this handsome guy on Angela's Flickr stream this morning...

I thought his paws looked familiar.

Because they were on my lap last week! After meeting Mink (that's his new name) during my shelter volunteer shift, I was very glad to hear that he'd gotten adopted a couple of days later. What a surprise to see him again - on Flickr :)

By the way, like Oliver, a fellow tuxedoed Washington Humane Society alum...

Mink is an Obama supporter. They can haz inauguration tickets?
