Some cats are big. (This one is Michael, who ended up at the animal shelter when his person was sent to jail. Max thought that was inconsiderate, getting arrested when his cat needed a lap to lounge on!)
Some are tiny. (This one is Rose. Even Max had to admit she's pretty cute.)
But Max knows he's the bestest cat of all.

Max was named after the Wildest Thing of All. Like Maurice Sendak's Max, Stick Figure Cat likes having dinner waiting after a wild rumpus.

While filling out Max's adoption paperwork, I thought of the Velveteen Rabbit. Just as he went from unwanted to adorable, every abandoned animal has the potential to "become real".

Remember how Mowgli's wolf parents introduced their new boy to the pack? Max's first meeting with the Spots reminded me of that.
