So Gristmill says that:
1. An omnivore produces 1.5 tons more carbon emissions than a strict vegan each year, and
2. A vegan with three 13-pound cats has the same environmental impact as an omnivore with no pets.
Dividing 1.5 tons by 3x 13 pounds, it seems each pound of cat produces 38.46kg of emissions per year, or 0.11kg per day.

At first I thought Max's carbon impact shouldn't count towards our household total. After all, it hasn't changed as he made his way from his previous owner to the shelter to us. But when I weighed him this morning, I found that he's gained 0.4 lb over the past month, which makes him less than 100% recycled :)
I'm actually worried that he hasn't grown more. He eats sooo much! I got him some high calorie kitten food, but he prefers raiding the Spots' bowl of weight control kibble. And no wonder! He probably read the Max Cat label and thought it's meant for him!
